Ayurveda - an Introduction
Ayurveda is a 5000 year old complex system of treating the body and mind. "Ayurveda" comes from the Sanskrit word 'Ayur', which means life and 'veda', which means to know. Therefore Ayurveda means "science of life" and longevity. It is considered the mother of medicine, and the basis for traditional Chinese and Western medicine. It is considered the oldest well-preserved treatment system in the world. Ayurveda is a holistic science that addresses the whole person. Instead of focusing on suppressing the symptoms, it looks at the cause and cure of diseases.
